Today Toyota announced the expansion of the Prius family at the North American International Auto Show. The Prius V, Prius Plug-in, and the concept Prius C will join Toyota’s popular Prius hatchback and help grow the Prius name plate in Canada.
Any idea how many Prius' have been sold in Canada since 1999?
Over 21,000 Prius' have been sold in Canada over the last 12 years.
Stephen Beatty, Managing Director and Chief Environmental Officer for Toyota Canada Inc. stated the following about the newest additions to the Prius family; “By expanding the line up we plan to keep Prius top-of-mind with consumers. Toyota hybrid vehicles produce almost 66 per cent fewer smog-forming emissions than a typical conventionally powered new vehicle. Getting more Canadians behind the wheel of a Prius vehicle will achieve the most meaningful environmental benefit.” The Prius V is expected to achieve 42 miles per gallon and come with Toyota's new Star Safety system.
The new Prius V is designed to meet the needs of a growing family that are environmentally conscious. Built on the current Prius architecture, the Prius V will be powered by the same Hybrid Synergy Drive System. The exterior design features a sleek rounded bold styling to improve air flow.
Inside, the Prius V has room for 5 and features sliding second row seats to improve comfort and flexibility. The first resin plastic panoramic sunroof with power retractable sun shade will be available on the Prius V. Unfortunately the Toyota Entune system will not be available in Canada until later this summer. Canadian pricing will be released closer to launch.
